Celebrating A Huge Win
Love comes in many forms. Family, friends, and definitely animals. One kind football player, Derrick Nnadi of the Kansas City Chiefs, is helping sheltered dogs find new families in the wake of his Super Bowl win. Nnadi has chosen to celebrate their Super Bowl win by funding the adoptions of every adoptable dog currently at KC Pet Project.
The community’s response with those looking to adopt a fur baby from the shelter has been very well received. “KC Pet Project cares for over 10,000 pets a year, so partnerships like this are so wonderful to help our pets find loving, forever homes,” Tori Fufate, Chief Communications Officer at KCPP, said. “We’re thrilled and honored that Derrick Nnadi chose to do this to help us save lives in Kansas City. Our community is on cloud nine following last night’s win and this is such a heartwarming story to go along with this huge victory.”
What an amazing story of love and giving from a leader in the football community! This man is a fine example of how financial success should be used… to better our world! Go Chiefs!!

Leaving A True Lasting Legacy
Quote: “Sometimes the poorest man leaves his children the richest inheritance.”
– Ruth E. Renkel
Nothing in the world makes us richer than having children who flourish in their adult lives. This looks different for everyone, but one thing is for sure: the material things will never be what truly matters. Although it’s nice to leave securities for your children for when you are gone, those things can easily be swept away.
Leave a legacy by pouring into your children what truly matters: giving love, finding hope, being compassionate, and helping them to understand that while the world is rarely fair, it can be a beautiful place if they have the right attitude, believe in what is true, and work hard to accomplish their goals in life. Instead of worrying about their bank account, be more concerned about their character. This will ensure that they are successful in life, no matter what is or isn’t in their bank account.
A Company You Should Know About
You know that feeling you get when you find a product that you love? Something you can stand behind 100% and feel great about both purchasing it and using it? Well, let me introduce you to Lemongrass Spa. These products have brought me SO much joy that I just can’t help but let people know about them… so I thought “why not just talk about it on my 7 on Saturday?!?” I’ll admit: it’s the one thing that I just have to purchase. That’s saying a lot considering I’m not a materialistic person! Anyway, it’s a company that direct sells, and I am a consultant… but don’t think I’m just saying that I love these products because I sell them. I’m not, because the truth is that I really don’t sell them! My mom and myself are my only customers; I’m a horrible salesperson to say the least. I just want others to know about this company, so here goes.
My non-salesperson speech: the company is based in Colorado and it’s somewhat small. it started off as a DYI project due to a mom named Heidi who wanted the best for her pregnant daughter and noticed that nothing on the market really measured up when it came to health and beauty products. So she made her own, and it was so great that she ended up selling it to her friends who also loved the products! She sold SO much of it that they started a company. Many of their products are organic, and all of them are completely natural with very few exceptions, which are some of their make-up products, but I’ve never bought any of their make-up. From what I understand, because make-up products contain some water, they have to use preservatives to prevent bacteria and mold.
"All I know is these products are so natural that I feel VERY comfortable using them for myself and
for my family."
The preservatives that they use are approved for use in EWG Verified and USDA certified organic skincare and cosmetic products, but they are technically synthetic; however, these are the only ones that are like this. The products are cruelty free, gluten free, paraben free, synthetic fragrance free, mineral oil free, PEG free, sodium lauryl/laureth sulfate free, triclosan/trilocarban free, formaldehyde/ammonia/
They support the US Military by providing “Freedom Feet” kits to people overseas as well as the wives of military families who are home tending to the children alone; for every ten kits sold, one is sent to a military family. They support the fight against human trafficking by providing a “Human Kindness Kit”; for every kit sold $1.00 is donated to support this cause. They support other causes from time to time as well, which all pertain to families and/or humanitarian aid. They are definitely passionate about helping others.
This is just the beginning… because as a user of the products, I can say that nearly everything I have tried is wonderful. I highly recommend the facial soap, cremes, and serums, really any of the facial products… especially the Vitamin C Serum, the body polishes, cremes, and icings, and the foaming liquid soap. I do not recommend the deodorant; it’s great if you don’t sweat a lot, but I do… so it tended to only work for a few hours for me before it wore off. So, if you are looking for a body and skincare line that is all of these things… try out Lemongrass Spa. You might like something, you might not. But I can’t help but share, because after all, Heidi’s love for her daughter and grandchild fostered something great… and THAT is something we should all respect! If you do decide that you want to try something, let me know and I’ll give you an awesome discount!

Beef Medallions with Caramelized Pan Sauce
Recipe by: Chef John
Preperation & Cooking Instructions
Season beef medallions with salt and pepper to taste; set aside. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over high heat and cook beef until browned, 2 minutes per side. Transfer beef to a warm plate. Reduce heat to medium; add mushrooms, 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, olive oil, and a pinch of salt in the skillet.
Cook for about 10 minutes, until mushrooms are well browned. Stir in tomato sauce; cook and continue to stir until tomato sauce thickens for 5 minutes. Increase heat to high and pour in Marsala wine. Cook, capturing browned bits from bottom of pan. Once most of the wine has reduced, stir in broth and bring to a boil. Cook until broth mixture has reduced by about half, or 5 minutes.
Turn down heat to low and add beef back to broth mixture. Simmer until beef has cooked to medium-rare, 2 to 3 minutes. Remove skillet from heat and transfer beef to serving plates. Cook and stir 1 1/2 tablespoons butter and oregano into the sauce until butter dissolves. Taste for seasoning and alter if needed. Spoon sauce over beef and serve immediately.

Best Mommy Life Weekly Book
Last but not least, it’s time for this week’s Best Mommy Life suggested book read! We found this gem:
The Little Love That Could: Stories of Tenacious Love, Underdogs, and Ragamuffins by Pamela Capone.
Pamela Capone writes with both love and laughter in this collection of personal essays. She uses both timeless and modern examples, as well as her own personal stories, and writes to the soul. Her words exist for the single purpose of pointing us to love. This book is about miniscule, puppy love that, when ignited, explodes into something amazing. It’s about realistic yet knock-your-socks-off, life-changing, grassroots-level love that grows from an intuition, an awareness, an sensitivity from above… and then blooms in the fertility of a heart willing to act on its amateur faith.
Such daring love, just like the little engine that could in the children’s book, just keeps persisting along over challenging hills, whilst dismissing the naysayers and visualizing the view from the top. The difference is, this obstinacy in the heart is what changes the small fries and ragamuffins into leaders and game-changers, right in our own neighborhood, offices, communities . . . or wherever we might tread. Pamela Capone’s often-hysterical words and captivating experiences will put a little gas in your tank to help you chug up and over love’s hills, so you can realize that all things are certainly possible . . . if you only believe that love can win.
