Seven On Saturday For The Week Of 01/18/2020
Every Saturday Best Mommy Life brings you seven things that inspired, made us laugh, smile, giggle, or possibly even belly laugh this past week. We bring you seven new things weekly and hope they will help get your weekend off to a wonderful start. Enjoy!
Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr
“Faith is taking the first step, even when you can’t see the whole staircase.”
– Martin Luther King, Jr.
In honor of the upcoming holiday, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, we wanted to take a moment to honor this American hero and justice warrior. Following in the footsteps of his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, this Baptist minister made vast civil rights contributions and personally touched the hearts of each of us with his “I Have A Dream” speech. Commending his notable accomplishments, take a few moments to reflect on his accomplishments and talk about them with your children. Stress the ability of each of us being able to pursue the impossible and make a difference in our world.
We Should Call It... A Plan!
“Don’t call it a dream, call it a plan.” – Author Unknown
In reality, dreams are subconscious thoughts tied to a previous memory. Possibly a thought we once had that we don’t even remember in our conscious minds. Calling something a dream keeps it farfetched and illusive to now. Knowing that our “dreams” are really goals that we just need a plan for, start using the word “plan” instead. You didn’t dream of your goals, you thought them in your conscious mind and in order to reach them… you need a plan.
Using the correct terminology for minor ideas will help to keep them properly defined and part of your reality. What are some words that you use inaccurately on occasion? Make a conscious effort to change your internal voice’s vocabulary and it will make a huge difference in your daily journey!
Mardi Gras King Cake.... Ice Cream?!
When it comes to ice cream, Blue Bell has to be at the top of our favorite list. It brings back memories from when I was a teenager, and my dad and I sat in the living room late at night sharing a bowl of Blue Bell ice cream together. His favorite was always Homemade Vanilla, but as an adult I have DEFINITELY branched off into new flavors and LOVE it when I get to try a new one.
Well wait no more, Blue Bell has fully released it’s Mardi Gras King Cake flavor in ALL stores that sell Blue Bell. It has been released selectively in the past, but Blue Bell announced that it will officially be adding this flavor to it’s regular shipments to all stores that carry Blue Bell. Take a look at the link below for more information and find it to try in your local area!
Some Things They Don't Tell You...
Are you pregnant or a brand new mom that is curious about which items to purchase for your baby? Well there are certainly a few items out there that need to be communicated to you that you might not have been told about. When it comes to teething, there is one toy teether that everyone is always raving about:
Sophie the giraffe teether.
Now, let’s be honest, EVERY child is different and some of them might throw this giraffe right back at you… but I can honestly say without much regret that this is something you might want to try out. It’s $23.00 but I’ve found them a little cheaper at Sam’s Club.
WARNING: the product should absolutely NOT be submerged in water ever.
To clean, use a damp towel or a baby wipe every day to wipe down. If water gets into the hole in this teether, you’ll have a mold issue, so it’s imperative (as with ALL baby products) to use this teether as directed on the packaging directions. Since this teether toy is specifically for teething, I would suggest buying a new one every 6 months or so, just to be on the safe side… as I would also recommend this with any teething toy. That’s about $100.00 bucks over the course of two years, and for this toy I’d say it is absolutely worth every penny.

Best Mommy Life Weekly Book
Our weekly book selection is FABULOUS! I’m about half way through this jewel, and I can’t put it down. This book does contain a little foul language, so if this is offensive to you then beware; however, the information it contains has justified any swearing that it brings with it. I have already picked up on many different nuggets of information and incorporated them into my mental tool box, and so far… I’ve come to understand a few things that I really questioned before.
You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero.
This oldie but goodie really gets to the nitty gritty of exactly HOW to implement change in your life by identifying why we think the way we think, helping us to get out of the same old mental ruts that we do without even realizing it, and moving to something greater by looking at money a little differently. All you want is around you for the taking, and this book helps you to understand how to go get it.
“And while there are countless ways that we rip ourselves off, there’s one way in particular that is, without a doubt, the most rampant and the most devastating of all: we invest everything we’ve got in believing that we’re not good enough.” – Jen Sincero

Life Is About Creating Yourself..
“Life Isn’t About Finding Yourself. Life Is About Creating Yourself.”
– George Bernard Shaw
You are exactly what you are meant to be right now. You were created with all the gifts you have at this moment, and each of them are right inside of you waiting to be tapped into. There is no value to “finding” yourself, all you need to do is create the life you are designed to have by fueling the talents and gifts you already own. List three things you enjoy doing and make an action plan to turn your talents and gifts into a reality. Research what others have done to make their goals a reality. Take a chance and make a change today.
Yummy Tomato Taco Bowl
Since the beginning of the year, I’ve been on the keto diet plan and have lost a total of about 30 pounds so far! I’m stoked, and with this new change I need lots of new recipes. I found this scrumptious low carb recipe and couldn’t help but share; it’s definitely great for when I’m craving something Mexican like tacos! It’s a tomato taco bowl, and it’s super quick and very tasty. You can also add guacamole or any other low carb food that would complement this meal.
Ingredients (What You Need):
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook onion until soft, stirring for 5 minutes. Add ground beef break up. Add taco seasoning. Cook together until meat is no longer pink (about 8 minutes) and then drain fat.
Slice tomatoes to make 6 wedges, being careful not to cut all the way through. Carefully separate wedges. Split taco meat among tomatoes, then cover each with cheese, lettuce, and sour cream before serving. Enjoy!
